Curriculum Organisation & Rationale
Curriculum Rationale and Vision
At Two Rivers High School, our curriculum is broad, balanced, and carefully designed to meet the diverse needs of our learners across the four specialist phases: Discoverers, Navigators, Pathfinders, and Pioneers. We are committed to promoting social justice and ensuring high aspirations for every young person, irrespective of background.
Our offer combines the full range of National Curriculum subjects with flexible, alternative, and blended pathways, enabling access to subjects that reflect individual needs, interests and aspirations. From Year 7, students experience a wider curriculum through subject rotations that broaden horizons and spark curiosity, enthusiasm, and joy in learning. In the Pioneers phase, learners then choose from a wide range of vocational options and qualifications up to GCSE, striking the right balance between choice and maintaining a broad foundation for later life.
We enrich academic learning with life skills, employability interventions, therapeutic support, and opportunities for cultural, social, and spiritual development. Through enrichment activities, trips, residentials, and community collaboration, we prepare students for independence and success beyond school.
Our curriculum is knowledge-rich, carefully sequenced, and rooted in powerful experiences that connects our students with the wider world around them. It is aspirational, engaging, and inclusive, reflecting the excellence our young people deserve, while supporting retention, fluency, and lifelong love of learning.
