Restorative and Relational Journey
What is a restorative and relational approach, and why is it important?
For us at Two Rivers High School, we have four important values that guide everything we do: build relationships, nurture and care, grow together, enjoy and achieve. We believe in creating a warm and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Building positive relationships with our peers and teachers is key to our success. We also understand the importance of nurturing and caring for each other, supporting one another through difficulties and celebrating our achievements. Together, we grow and learn, embracing challenges and working as a team. We believe that by enjoying our learning journey, we can achieve great things and reach our full potential.
You will see as outlined in our Behaviour and Conduct Policy Policies - Two Rivers School
That we aim to:
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students and, as far as is possible, protect them from harm, including self-injury.
• Give all students the best opportunity of being accepted into the community and into society by teaching them what is acceptable and what unacceptable behaviour is promoting British Values.
• Provide the best opportunity for learning by reducing barriers created by unacceptable behaviour.
• Encourage our students to take care of the physical environment and have respect for their own and others’ belongings.
We create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, thanks to our restorative and relational approach.
"Positive and proactive strategies are essential for building and maintaining relationships. By focusing on understanding and empathy, we can create a regulatory environment that fosters trust. Restorative practices are not just about resolving conflict but are also preventative; they help to restore and strengthen relationships before issues arise. Ultimately, it's about nurturing connections that allow everyone to thrive, ensuring that when challenges emerge, we face them with a shared commitment to growth".
